Here we demonstrate how to install laminate flooring.
We began by prepping the floor, removing the old carpet, pad and tack strip, making sure a good smooth surface. We laid out and secured the underlayment and began determining our layout.
Before laying your first board you MUST make sure the last boards on the opposite wall will not be a sliver of a piece. Rip down the first row if necessary to increase the size of the board on the far wall. Make sure your layout will be square and begin laying out boards. We were lucky on this install – the height of the baseboards allowed us to slide the boards under perfectly, Other times you will need to remove and reattach the baseboards.
As we turned from the dining room into the kitchen we pulled out the refrigerator and found the ice maker line had rotted the subfloor in that spot. We’ve pulled out & replaced that section of floorboard, but as with almost any project, expect the unexpected.
Here’s how it looks all done!
